楊芳菲先生が留学を終えて帰国されました

このたび、当教室で研究に取り組まれていた楊芳菲（Yang Fangfei）先生が、留学期間を終えて帰国されました。

楊先生には、主にEGFR陽性肺癌の分野でご尽力いただきました。薬物療法に対する耐性マーカーの開発や、EGFR陽性肺癌の予後を予測する因子の探索など、私たちが力を入れているトランスレーショナルリサーチの一翼を担っていただきました。

さらに、肺癌以外の領域でも精力的に執筆を進められ、難治性喘息に対する生物学的製剤治療のメタアナリシスや、緑膿菌肺炎に関するレビュー論文にも取り組まれました。いずれも現在投稿中で、良い結果が届くことを教室一同楽しみにしています。

日々のやり取りは主に英語で行われ、お互いに言葉の壁に苦労する場面もありました。それでも、根気強くコミュニケーションを重ねながら一つひとつ研究を形にしていく時間は、私たちにとっても大変学びの多いものでした。異なる背景を持つ研究者と机を並べられたことは、教室にとって貴重な財産です。

楊先生の今後ますますのご活躍を、心よりお祈り申し上げます。またどこかでお会いできる日を楽しみにしています。

We are marking the departure of Dr. Yang Fangfei, who has completed her research fellowship in our department and returned home.

During her time with us, Dr. Yang worked primarily in the field of EGFR-positive lung cancer. She contributed to the development of markers for resistance to EGFR-TKI therapy and to the search for factors that predict prognosis in EGFR-positive lung cancer — an important part of the translational research that is central to our group.

Beyond lung cancer, she was a prolific writer, taking on a meta-analysis of biologic therapy for refractory asthma as well as a review article on Pseudomonas aeruginosa pneumonia. Both are currently under submission, and the whole department is looking forward to good news on them.

Much of our work was carried out in English, and there were certainly moments when the language barrier was challenging for both sides. Even so, the experience of working patiently through those exchanges and bringing each project to fruition was a genuinely rewarding one for us. Having the chance to work side by side with a researcher from a different background has been a real asset to our department.

We wish Dr. Yang every success in the years ahead, and we hope our paths will cross again.
